From Kyoto Station the ride takes 10 to 15 minutes. The taxi rank sits outside the Karasuma Central Exit, and drivers know the Higashiyama-Yasui junction. GO and Uber both work in Kyoto and let you set the destination in the app rather than explaining it — worth having installed before you land, since both want a phone number and card on first use.
A taxi cannot reach the front door: the final lane is too narrow for a car, so every arrival ends with a short walk of two or three minutes from the junction. With heavy luggage, or arriving after dark for the first time, tell us your flight and we will arrange a private transfer from Kansai or Itami and meet you at the house.

Ask the driver for the junction called Higashiyama-Yasui — pronounced hee-gah-shee-ya-ma ya-su-ee. If it helps, show them the address in Japanese above.

Take the road beside the rental kimono store, then the first lane on your right — there is a veterinary clinic on the corner.

Turn left into the first lane on your left.

Head for the two houses with the dark timber frontage. BenTen West is on the left, BenTen East beyond it.
Catching a taxi when you leave.
Taxis are easy to hail from the main street. Turn right as you leave the houses, take the road at the end of the lane, then the first lane on the left, and you will come out on the main road. With advance notice our Concierge can have a taxi waiting for your departure instead.
