City Bus 206 from Kyoto Station to Higashiyama-Yasui, then a five-minute walk. Four stations are within a walk of the house.
About 20 minutes on the bus, then a walk of roughly five minutes.
A note on luggage. Kyoto city buses have no luggage racks and very little floor space, and the 206 is one of the busiest routes in the city. With large cases, a taxi is the easier arrival — or send the bags ahead. See taxi and private car, and the luggage questions on the Stays page.
From Kyoto Station, take City Bus 206 from the terminal outside the JR Central Entrance. The boarding point is stop D2. Board the 206 headed for Gion (祇園) via Kiyomizu-dera (清水寺) — the anti-clockwise route. The clockwise 206, signed via Daitoku-ji, goes the other way around the city.

Alight at Higashiyama-Yasui stop (東山安井). From the front door it is the second stop after Gion; the ride from Kyoto Station takes about 20 minutes in normal traffic.

Walk south, against the direction the bus was travelling, and you will pass the torii gateway of Yasui Konpira-gu shrine on your left.

Cross the road to the torii on the other side. This is the Kodai-ji Minami Mon-dori (高台寺南門通り) junction — the spire visible above the rooftops belongs to Yasaka Pagoda.

Go up the slope to the left of the gateway.

Take the first lane on your left.

Follow that lane down.

Turn into the first lane on your right and you have arrived. BenTen West is the house on the left, BenTen East the one beyond it.

Turn right as you leave the houses, then take the road at the end of the lane. Take the first lane on the left, turn left onto the main road, and the Higashiyama-Yasui stop is straight ahead, outside the Kyoto Shinkin Bank branch. Buses from this stop also run to Gion, Shijo Keihan and Kyoto Station.
